Genesis and the Big Bang by Gerald L. Schroeder, Ph.D.
The Discovery Of Harmony Between Modern Science And The Bible
This is an outstanding effort on the part of a well-qualified scientist to reconcile Genesis One with modern physics and cosmology. Schroeder is a believer in the literalness of Genesis One as a starting point for understanding science that bears on the history of the universe. He is a literalist and much more. The heart of his argument is that Einstein’s Theory of General and Special Relativity convinces us that time flows at different rates depending on one’s frame of reference. God has his frame of reference and the universe has it’s frame of reference. Both are equally true. Although Schroeder believes that the universe is 15 billion years old, he does not believe in Darwinian evolution. That, he asserts, is statiscally impossible and contrary to the geological record. What he does believe is that during God’s time, there were numberous creation interventions. This is the first book I have read by someone scientifically qualified that understands science and believes in the literal truth of scripture.
